GolfMotion understands your movement without needing to understand who you are. Local first. Off by default. Yours to control.

On-device01

Your swing stays with you.

Recording, pose detection, scoring and your swing history are processed on your iPhone. By default, none of it is sent to us.

Your choice02

Analytics starts at off.

Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports are a separate, explicit opt-in. No consent means the analytics service is never started.

Safer sharing03

Blur before it leaves.

Face blur is available when you create a social share. The blurred copy is made on-device before the video is uploaded, and a blur failure cancels the share.

01

What stays on your device

By default, everything. Your swing videos, the skeleton extracted from them, scores, history, golfer profiles, names, heights and handicaps are stored on your iPhone and are not sent to S-Motion.

You do not need an account to use GolfMotion's core on-device features. The separate coach portal does create a server-side account when a coach chooses verified email or Google sign-in. Sign in with Apple is not currently enabled for the portal.

Optional iCloud sync copies your library between your own devices through your private iCloud account. S-Motion cannot access that library and does not use it for model training.

02

Coach portal accounts

Coach portal authentication is provided by Amazon Cognito. A coach can create an account with a verified email address and password or choose Google, which provides Cognito with the Google account identifier and the profile fields requested on the consent screen: name and email address. Passwords are submitted securely to Cognito for authentication and are not stored by S-Motion in the coach workspace or DynamoDB.

The portal stores authentication tokens in essential, HttpOnly cookies so browser scripts cannot read them. Short-lived state, nonce and PKCE cookies protect the sign-in exchange. These cookies are used only to sign you in, keep the session active and sign you out; they are not advertising or analytics cookies.

The Cognito user identifier—not matching email text—is the account key. Using email and Google separately can create two profiles until a trusted account-linking process verifies they belong to the same person. Authentication alone does not grant access to an athlete or workspace.

03

Anonymous analytics is opt-in

The app does not start product analytics unless you actively turn on Share anonymous usage analytics. If enabled, it sends a short, fixed list of events such as a swing being analysed or a share link being created, plus an anonymous crash report if the app fails.

Those events contain no name, email, location, video, screen recording or anything you type. They use a random analytics identifier that is not joined to the separate identifier used for model-improvement uploads. PostHog processes this data in the European Union, in Frankfurt.

You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings. Collection stops immediately and the analytics identifier is removed from the device. Refusing analytics does not limit the app.

We also keep three identifier-free running totals: app opens, swings recorded and swings analysed. Each request is only an instruction to add one; the service stores no event record, user or device identifier. These totals cannot be used to recognise or follow anyone.

04

Social sharing, with a face-blur choice

Creating a share link is a deliberate, per-swing action. Before upload, you can keep Blur my face on. GolfMotion renders a new blurred copy on your device, then uploads that copy. If blurring cannot be completed, the share fails rather than sending the original.

A share link is public to anyone who has it. You choose a lifetime of 24 hours, 3 days or 1 week, and can stop the share early. A recognisable person in video is personal data even without a name, so check the frame for other people before publishing it.

Creating a public share also permits that clip to be retained for model improvement for no more than 90 days. Stopping the public link removes the page immediately; it does not undo model-improvement consent already given for that clip. You can request deletion through the app's Your Shared Data screen.

05

Model improvement is a different choice

Share anonymous swing data is separate from usage analytics. If you enable it, the app uploads joint positions, swing-stage timing, score and context such as club, camera angle and any profile details you supplied that help the model understand a swing.

No name, account, email or location is included. Video is not included unless you make the additional Include swing video choice. That video path is currently disabled in the app and on the server and will not be enabled without an updated notice and a fresh choice.

Anonymous derived measurements are kept while the models are in active development. You can stop future uploads at any time and request deletion of stored uploads using the anonymous identifier shown in Settings. A model already trained cannot be untrained, and measurements that have been irreversibly separated from the linking record cannot later be connected back to you.

06

Permissions have narrow jobs

Camera and microphone access record your swing; audio helps detect impact. Clips prepared for model training have audio removed. Photo access is add-only when you export, while Apple's picker gives the app only the clip you select for import.

Apple Watch motion travels to your iPhone over Apple's device-to-device connection. A companion iPhone camera sends clips directly over an encrypted local connection and removes them from the companion after delivery. We do not request location or advertising identifiers and do not use cross-app tracking.

07

Retention and service providers

On-device data stays until you delete it. Public share pages disappear when their link expires or you stop sharing. Clips retained for model improvement are deleted within 90 days. Anonymous derived swing measurements remain while the models are actively developed.

Amazon Web Services stores data you choose to share and the coach portal account identity described above. Cloudflare supports the optional watch-data path and identifier-free counters. PostHog processes optional app analytics and crash reports in Frankfurt. Google is an optional coach-portal identity provider. Apple provides private iCloud sync under its own terms; Apple sign-in is not enabled for the coach portal.

This website stores only your analytics preference unless you opt in. If you allow site analytics, Vercel Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics may process limited technical request data to produce aggregate traffic reports. You can change that choice below at any time.

08

Your EU privacy rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may ask to access, correct, erase, restrict or receive the personal data we hold about you, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.

Most GolfMotion data never reaches us, so you exercise control directly by viewing, exporting or deleting it on your device. For data you chose to share, Settings → Help improve smotion → Your Shared Data shows the identifier used to find an upload and provides the deletion route.

S-Motion Technologies Pty Ltd is the controller for the optional data described here. Contact support@smotion.ai for privacy requests. We may need enough information to verify a request without collecting more than necessary.

09

Children, changes and accountability

GolfMotion is not directed at children. Golf footage can include other people in the background, so only publish clips you are comfortable making public and stop a share if someone shown has not agreed to it.

We apply the EU principles of data minimisation, purpose limitation, storage limitation and privacy by design to everyone, not only people in Europe. If a material change needs a new choice, we will explain it and ask again rather than treating silence as consent.

This page is the authoritative web policy. The matching policy remains available inside the app so it can be read even when you are offline.

Website analytics

Your choice. Always reversible.

Optional site analytics is currently off. The preference itself is saved in this browser so we can remember your answer. Changing it does not affect GolfMotion app analytics.
